JUROR

Sculptor Jordan Parah has been a visual artist her whole life, drawing on a childlike imagination to inspire her metal sculptures today. Her work challenges the intrinsic properties of metal and is formed into harmonious compositions that exemplify coexistence, creating balance and harmony out of diversity. She received a BFA in Sculpture and minor in Art History from East Carolina University in 2014. Today, Parah runs her business, Parahdise Sculpture, creating contemporary aluminum and steel sculptures in Greenville, NC. She also works at City Art Gallery and has worked in museums and galleries for 15 years. With over a decade of experience in public art exhibitions, her focus is large-scale outdoor commission work, which can be found throughout the southeast including the Greenville Museum of Art, UNC Rex Hospital Cancer Center, Wake Forest Renaissance Arts Center, The Pointe at Barclay in Wilmington, and Novant Health. Her sculptures are in private collections across the United States. Parah also actively serves on the ACE Committee at the Greenville Museum of Art and the Civic Arts Committee in Greenville.

D. Lance Vickery was raised in Florida. Early, as an aspiring two-dimensional artist, deeply rooted in formalism, Lance attended Florida State University, where he met Charles Hook. Hook changed Lance’s perception of art and sculpture. Hook held the position that all “Sculpture is real, all painting and photography, no matter how realistic is abstract. Two-dimensional work always requires the viewer to imagine the third dimension.”

Lance is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida and President of the International Conference for Contemporary Cast Iron Art [ICCCIA].

James Matson is a sculptor and set designer living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He started off as a potter but kept sticking chunks of steel and wood into chunks of clay until it wouldn’t fit in the kiln anymore. His work centers around personal narratives seeking to find those universal moments that we share as individuals. His focus on the relationship between space and form is central to all his sculptural work.

He recently retired from teaching after thirty-five years of Sculpture, Ceramics, and Three-Dimensional Design. His work has been seen both here and abroad and is part of several collections.
