Outreach Programs
Youth Public Arts Project
The Youth Public Arts Project is our longest running outreach program. This is a weekly program, where at-risk youth come to the arts council to work with professional artists and social work interns to create various public art projects. The public art is then displayed throughout the community.
• Past projects include murals on the Park Theatre, murals for the Humane Society, planter projects and a bench project.
• This project is a $30,000+ project, funded partially by the North Carolina Arts Council.
Cancer in Our Communities
Cancer in our Communities is an Arts in Healthcare program in partnership with the Oncology Dept. at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Professional visual artists and dancers work with adult and pediatric cancer patients and survivors.
• Through the arts, patients, survivors and their caregivers can begin to cope with their challenge.
• This is a $30,000 program, funded partially by the North Carolina Arts Council.
Art in Schools Programs
Help keep arts in our schools. Your dollars will be matched by North Carolina Arts Council funds to bring professional dance, music, theatre and visual artists to our public schools for performances and residencies. It also helps After School Arts Clubs where art and music teachers stay after school once a week for a free art club.
• These are quality multi-cultural performances
• This is a $7,500-$10,000 program, partially funded by the North Carolina Arts Council.
